Bethesda Inc. Awards Grant to TriHealth in Partnership with Springfield Township Fire Department.
Cincinnati, August 16, 2017 – Bethesda Inc., a major funder of health transformation and co-sponsor of TriHealth, today announced it will award $201,806 to TriHealth Corporate Health in collaboration with Springfield Township Fire Department to develop an
innovative paramedicine model focused on behavioral health.
“Bethesda Inc. is in the unique position to fund health collaborations that align health improvement efforts and advance promising strategies to improve community health and well-being,” said Jill Miller, president of Bethesda Inc. “This project has the potential
to transform the way care is delivered to the community, bringing fresh ideas to our region.”
Once planning is completed, the program would ultimately train paramedic teams to assess behavioral health needs and make referrals to community resources when making home visits.
“There simply aren’t enough behavioral health specialists in Greater Cincinnati. TriHealth Corporate Health and Springfield Township, under the leadership of Fire Chief Robert Leininger, are excited to pilot a new program to address behavioral health needs of
underserved people,” said Terri Hanlon-Bremer, Chief Operating Officer of TriHealth Corporate Health.
“This grant allows us to assess the feasibility of a new national community paramedic behavioral health care model at the local level,” Hanlon-Bremer said. “This model will set the foundation for paramedics to provide behavioral health intervention using
telemedicine and onsite services in the home environment while connecting patients to care when needed.”
